Aspen’s Bark: A Safety Reminder

Aspen and her fur-siblings (Bailey and Austin) love their daily walks at the off-leash park. Her off-leash park of choice is River Park, 4500 – 14A St SW. Aspen’s aunt, Candice Lee manages a group of wonderful volunteers that help make River Park one of Calgary’s most popular inner city off leash dog park for the enjoyment of dogs and their humans. Candice wants to reminds everyone to be safe.

As Spring approaches and the warmer weather arrives, usage in the park increases as everyone wants to get out and enjoy the park – none more than our four legged friends. Many park users drive to the off-leash park. Whether you park in the lot or on the street, please remember to keep your dog safe when exiting from the vehicle. We have all seen near misses and sadly, some of us have witnessed tragedy as a result of a dog running out into traffic.

Keep your dog under control at all times. Calgary Animal and Bylaw Services states that dogs are to be on-leash in parking lots and the street. Off-leash access only applies to designated areas with signs stating so. Avoid a costly ticket, and more importantly, keep our dogs safe!
